Mauricio Porras is the co-founder of HERO, the world’s largest network of professional climate activists, and the HERO Fund, which provides learning opportunities and financial stability for community-driven nature solutions. Inspired by over a decade of work in creative communication and movement building, Mauricio co-designed HERO to ensure that frontline leaders have the resources to turn policy breakthroughs into citizen-backed victories. HERO provides direct monthly funding, capacity-building support, and spaces for collaboration between different climate movements. It connects more than 200 civic leaders with data, strategic input, and expert partners, helping them respond more quickly during high-stakes legislative moments and coordinate more effectively across campaigns. He has played a key role in supporting leaders behind major wins like the EU Nature Restoration Law campaign, where the final vote passed by just one vote, helping coordinate funding and research that supported outreach to 1.2 million citizens and trained more than 50 organizers while documenting and turning the learnings behind these wins into playbooks so they can be replicated by leaders worldwide.
