Janine Gaëlle Dieudji is an art curator and the co-founder of The Recovery Plan, a grassroots cultural repository dedicated to socially engaged public education and the examination of Afrodescendant histories. Her practice brings together artists, institutions, and communities through exhibitions, public programs, and collaborative platforms that foster enduring cultural exchange. Janine also serves as the co-director of Black History Month Florence, where she facilitates transnational exchanges that reclaim marginalized narratives within contemporary cultural ecosystems. Her work focuses on guiding institutions to transform into responsive civic infrastructures that honor collective memory. By designing platforms that move institutions beyond mere preservation, Janine’s initiatives have reached over 6,000 participants and increased community participation in local cultural spaces by more than 40%. From 2023 to 2025, she served as Curator at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, DC. Working at the intersection of creativity and representation, Janine uses narrative and the arts to give marginalized communities more space to be seen and heard.
