Daniel Hegedüs is a Deputy Director of the Institut für Europäische Politik . Daniel specializes in designing democracy assistance programs and building international coalitions to support activists and community advocates in regions facing shrinking civic space. At the German Marshall Fund, he revitalized regional democracy programs by securing funding and managing initiatives that provided grants and capacity-building assistance to over 350 organizations across eight countries. Daniel has spent his career working to strengthen civil society across the transatlantic space. He continues to champion hope-based advocacy and coordinate cross-border networks to ensure that pro-democracy stakeholders have the skills and solidarity needed to protect open societies and uphold values-based leadership in a changing global landscape. Daniel is a seasoned policy expert who has successfully managed impactful democracy programs and revitalized international support for civil society in regions facing significant authoritarian pressure.
