Sandy Kunvatanagarn
2026-2027 Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leader
Head of Global Affairs, Southeast Asia, OpenAI
Thailand
Sandy Kunvatanagarn is the head of global affairs, Southeast Asia at OpenAI, where she strengthens public trust in artificial intelligence across the Asia Pacific. As the company's first employee in the region, she supported economic blueprints on AI adoption for Australia and Korea and established partnerships in Singapore that used AI to make museums more accessible. Previously, at Meta, she managed a COVID-19 task force that delivered $27 million in advertising support to 127 health ministries globally and trained over 2,000 entrepreneurs in six months. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that systems can expand opportunity when co-designed with the communities they serve, a verdict formed while managing programs for 150,000 refugees on the Thai-Myanmar border. Given the rapid and vast expansion of AI, Sandy is committed to enhancing her capacity to restore trust between government institutions, tech companies, and the general public.
