Jihee “Irene” Choi
2026-2027 Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leader
Manager, Kakao Corporation
Republic of Korea
Jihee “Irene” Choi is a manager at Kakao Corporation, Korea's largest platform, and AI company. She works on the policy agenda team where she embeds sustainable and inclusive growth in the country’s digital economy. Irene pioneered Korea’s first diversity report in the tech industry and helped establish a governance system for responsible technology, including a mandatory AI safety checklist that serves as a policy guide for all new AI services across Kakao Group. She previously led the launch of the Reborn Project, a nationwide initiative that provided startups with financial and strategic support in partnership with Korea's national entrepreneurship agency. Driven by the view that social impact must be central to core business models, Irene is transforming how a major conglomerate governs technology, setting a regional benchmark for responsible growth and digital equity.
