Yewande Benn is the founder and lead of PregAfrica, a maternal-health social enterprise dedicated to reducing preventable maternal mortality in underserved African communities by integrating technology-enabled early detection tools with culturally sensitive community care. PregAfrica has reached more than 10,000 pregnant women, introduced the BibaBeat fetal monitoring tool to traditional birth attendants, and facilitated over 500 urgent telehealth consultations. Yewande seeks to dismantle barriers between formal healthcare systems and grassroots realities, transforming community birth attendants into vital partners in a high-tech referral network.
