Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Brother Deng Foundation

South Sudan

William Deng is the founder and chief executive officer of the Brother Deng Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering low-income South Sudanese communities by expanding access to vital infrastructure in education, healthcare, and clean water. He works to meet urgent needs in the Aweil region, where about two million people still lack higher education and healthcare infrastructure. The Brother Deng Foundation runs two medical clinics that together serve over 6,000 people each year. It has also installed wells that provide clean water to about 8,200 residents every month and supported 3,200 schoolchildren with uniforms and school supplies. Having fled the civil war in South Sudan as a child, William is driven by a personal commitment to make sure no child has to go through the same experience.
