Elevating agricultural professionals as key innovation leaders and creating culturally relevant mental health tools.

Alexia Estrada recently served as the Director of Operations at Semillero de Ideas, a startup nonprofit that centers farmworkers as leaders of agricultural innovation. In this role, she helped build trust and increased engagement between farmworkers and growers in Eastern Washington State. She also led annual innovation challenges that empowered farmworkers to design and patent tools to improve their working conditions. Alexia's leadership secured $750,000 in grant funding and integrated farmworker perspectives directly into the Washington State Department of Agriculture's official climate resilience plan. She also co-founded Cafe Con Arte, a coffee shop and cultural art gallery that grew from her passion for building community. Through the Scholars program, which focuses on storytelling and community engagement, Alexia intends to continue her work with these communities with a focus on building culturally relevant mental health tools to combat isolation and reduce stigma among domestic and immigrant agricultural workers. By integrating rural, on-the-ground advocacy with agricultural insights, she aims to scale her wellness frameworks into nationwide agricultural policy.
