Nalleli Cobo-Uriarte is the co-director of the South Central Youth Leadership Coalition Fellowship, where she builds the next generation of climate leaders through youth-led organizing and policy advocacy. She began her advocacy at age nine after experiencing severe health impacts from a nearby oil well and has since led a decade-long movement to end urban oil extraction in Los Angeles. Her leadership contributed to the permanent closure of the AllenCo drilling site, criminal charges against its operators, and the passage of SB 1137 in 2024, establishing the nation’s largest health and safety buffer zone between oil wells and communities.
