Lonnie Scott is the criminal investigations division commander at the Gainesville Police Department, where he leads efforts to reduce gun violence and rebuild trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Throughout 16years of service, he has contributed to data-driven strategies and cross-sector partnerships that led to measurable reductions in shootings, including establishing a permanent gun violence unit and strengthening coordination between local, federal, and community partners. His leadership focuses on integrating enforcement with prevention, working alongside grassroots organizations, mental health providers, and neighborhood leaders to address the root causes of violence.
