Keaton Sunchild is the political and government relations director for Western Native Voice, a Montana-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Native communities and addressing issues that impact Indigenous people. Drawing on his experience at the Chippewa-Cree Tribe’s Rocky Boy’s Reservation, Keaton’s leadership has more than doubled voter turnout among Montana's Indigenous communities, increasing from 31% in 2016 to nearly 70% in the 2024 election. Keaton has also built a candidate recruitment program that helped grow Montana’s American Indian Caucus in the state legislature to a record number of members. During his tenure in the Montana legislature, Keaton helped craft the Montana Native American Voting Rights Act in both 2021 and 2025, and despite the bill's failure both times, he remains committed to breaking down the barriers to voting in Montana.
