Founder and Executive Director, #aufstehn

Maria Mayrhofer is the founder and executive director of #aufstehn (stand up), Austria’s largest and only non-partisan advocacy organization. Their mission is to promote and strengthen civil society participation in Austria, focusing on the issues of social justice and economic fairness, ecological sustainability, human rights protection, and deepening democracy. Maria co-founded #aufstehn in 2015, and since that time, the organization has run dozens of successful non-partisan campaigns, and used its collective power to shape the public discourse. She believes that the coming years are crucial and wants her community to feel strong, powerful, and connected as they stand up to battle the world’s most pressing problems.
