Exploring the Center’s Audio Guides
Our audio guides, hosted through Bloomberg Connects, merge cutting-edge technology with captivating storytelling, creating an unforgettable and immersive experience. The free app gives users access to the Center’s campus from anywhere across the globe.
The app offers:
Campus Guide: Embark on a comprehensive look of the Obama Presidential Center. Narrated by Oprah Winfrey, the Campus Guide (Opens in a new tab) explores the history and vision of the Obama Presidential Center and its roots on Chicago’s South Side. Discover interesting facts about our 19.3-acre campus that weave art, architecture, and history together. Featured speakers include President Obama, Mrs. Obama, late artist Richard Hunt, chef Cliff Rome, and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.
The Campus Guide is also available in American Sign Language signed by Jeremy Lee Stone, April Jackson-Woodard, Alexandria Wailes, Tyrone Giordano and Amelia Hensley, and Christina Hopewell-Albert.Museum Guide: Introduced by President Obama and narrated by Tom Hanks, the Museum Guide (Opens in a new tab) provides an up-close-and-personalized look at the stories, moments, and artifacts that shaped the Obama administration. Explore key exhibits and learn more about pivotal moments in the Obama's legacy from contributors including Michelle Obama and archival audio from campaign volunteers, White House visitors, and the media.
Family Guide: This imaginative version of the Campus Guide narrated by the Obamas’ dogs, Bo and Sunny, as voiced by actress Cree Summer. The Family Guide (Opens in a new tab) uses fun, interactive prompts to help and entertain our youngest visitors through the campus.
Art Guide: Dive into the creation of 14 art installations commissioned for the Center. Narrated by Michelle Obama, the Art Guide (Opens in a new tab) explores the inspiration behind signature pieces with insight from the artists including Mark Bradford, Nick Cave and Marie Watt, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Nekisha Durrett, Theaster Gates, Maya Lin, Julie Mehretu, Aliza Nisenbaum, Martin Puryear, Richard Hunt, Jenny Holzer, Carrie Mae Weems, Idris Khan, and Alison Saar.
Audio Described Guide: As part of a shared commitment to making the Obama Presidential Center welcoming to all, the Museum and Bloomberg Connects have created an Audio Described Guide. (Opens in a new tab) The Guide is introduced by President Obama and guided by Kareem Dale, who served as President Obama’s Special Assistant for Disability Policy – the highest-ranking position on disability ever created by a president.
How to Access the Center Audio Guides
You can connect to our audio guides by clicking here (Opens in a new tab) . The Bloomberg Connects app is available for download from Google Play (Opens in a new tab) and the Apple App Store (Opens in a new tab) . On your mobile device download the app “Bloomberg Connects.”
Once you open the app, type in “Obama Presidential Center” into the search bar.
Click on the icon named “Obama Presidential Center.”
From there, you will be led to our home page on Bloomberg Connects that features all of our guides. Please choose the guide you would like to use.
