One-On-One with President Obama and Anthony Edwards

A Former President v. A Future MVP. Who wins? All of us.

Anthony Edwards and Barack Obama give each other a hand shake, more specifically a dap, as they stand next to each other. Anthony has a deep skin complexion short coiled hair and a goatee. He is wearing a black sweatshirt. Barack Obama has medium deep skin tone and closely cropped gray hair. He is wearing a light colored button down shirt.

The beef is squashed...maybe? This week, President Barack Obama and NBA All-Star Anthony Edwards added a new chapter to their rivalry, going head to head in everything from the basketball court to ping-pong to Connect Four in a brand new video. The two men originally lit up the internet in July 2024, when President Obama and the Minnesota Timberwolves guard engaged in playful trash talk during the Team USA Basketball 50th Anniversary event in Las Vegas.

While chatting with Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, President Obama asked what he thinks about Edwards’ game, saying: “He can hoop a little bit, huh?”

Edwards, who was standing next to Embiid, jumped in with confidence: "Man, y’all better stand down. I’m the truth! These boys know!"

The light-hearted rivalry has continued with the “Ant-Man” and President Obama once again going back and forth during this year’s All-Star game.

In their latest video, President Obama and Edwards squash their beef and plan a rematch at Home Court, the 60,000-square-foot athletic and recreation space located on the Obama Presidential Center campus. Home Court features an NBA-regulation-sized basketball court and flexible meeting spaces. The Obama Presidential Center, which opens to the public on June 19, also features a Museum, a new Chicago Public Library branch, a state-of-the-art Playground, a media suite, Auditorium, and more.
