Sara Gabr
Egypt
Sara’s work revolves around documenting human rights violations in Egypt and collecting data on these violations. She gathers testimonies from families of prisoners and former prisoners about forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture in prisons. Documentation is one of the essential aspects of the pursuit of justice. She believes that despite the authoritarian nature of the Egyptian regime, she will remain steadfast in her belief that justice must be served one day. She is gathering the evidence for when that day comes. Alongside her documentation work, she is the co-founder and organizer of multiple human rights advocacy groups, such as, Stop The Death Penalty Campaign, Stop Enforced Disappearance Campaign, and FreeSoltan Campaign. These campaigns are critical to imposing internal and external pressure on the regime to cease human rights violations.
