Obama Foundation Opens Applications for a New Class of Scholars in New York

Today, the Obama Foundation launched applications for its next class of Scholars at Columbia University for the 2021-22 academic year. For the first time, the Scholars program is extending applications to U.S. citizens and residents, in addition to seeking leaders from around the world, who have made meaningful contributions to their field and are now at a “breakthrough moment” in their careers. The application deadline is February 5, 2021 at 5:00pm ET.
The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University is a full-time, nine-month, fully-funded leadership development program that brings together rising leaders from the United States and around the world who have demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges in their communities, countries, and regions. Over the course of an academic year at Columbia University, Obama Foundation Scholars have an opportunity to take their work to the next level through an immersive curriculum designed to deepen their knowledge and skills, and build new capacities and networks to accelerate their impact in their home countries.
Upon completion of the program, Obama Foundation Scholars are expected to return to the regions where they have been working to continue along a path of service, and apply their enhanced training, skills, and connections on a long-term basis for the benefit of these communities.
Note: The Obama Foundation and Columbia University will continue to monitor the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure it is safe for the 2021-22 Scholars to travel to and reside in the City of New York for the program. However, there is a possibility that Scholars would participate in the program remotely from their home countries and communities.
