Obama Foundation Announces Anne Filipic as Chief Program Officer

Chicago, IL – Today, the Obama Foundation announced Anne Filipic as Chief Program Officer. As Chief Program Officer, Anne will play a critical role in designing and implementing the Obama Foundation’s programming initiatives designed to inspire and equip aspiring leaders to change their communities.

Anne has also served as interim Chief Operating Officer since October. She will hold both positions simultaneously while the Obama Foundation finalizes its operational structure.

President Obama said, “Over the past decade, I’ve watched Anne develop ambitious programs and lead teams to great success on a number of issues close to my heart. She has shown a deep understanding of how to build the large scale initiatives that the Obama Foundation is looking to create in the months and years to come. I know Anne will do an outstanding job as our Chief Program Officer as we equip more aspiring leaders with the tools they need to make a difference.”

David Simas, Chief Executive Officer of the Obama Foundation, said: “Anne has been an important member of our team this fall as the Obama Foundation rolled out its fall slate of programs, including pilot trainings in Chicago, Boston and Tempe, the inaugural Summit in October, and integrating the great work of My Brother's Keeper into the Obama Foundation. As we look to 2018 and beyond, Anne will play a critical role in designing global programs that empower and equip young people with the skills and tools needed to change their communities.”

About Anne Filipic

Over the last dozen years, Anne Filipic has held senior leadership roles in some of the most successful and consequential initiatives. Most recently, Anne served as President of Enroll America, a non-profit organization dedicated to maximizing the number of Americans who enroll in and retain health coverage made available through the Affordable Care Act. Enroll America’s work supported a net increase of over 20 million Americans gaining health coverage in under four years. In 2015, Anne was named one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine in recognition of Enroll America’s impact.

Previously, Anne served as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Deputy Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee, and Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her background includes key positions in a variety of electoral and issue campaigns, including the 2008 Obama for America campaign, where she served as Field Director during the Iowa caucuses and Colorado General Election Director. As an early leader in the Obama for America campaign, Anne played a key role in developing and implementing the campaign’s successful organizing model, which has fundamentally altered the nature of grassroots engagement in the electoral and public policy context.
