Welcome to the MBK Alliance Curated Funding Opportunities web page. This page is designed for MBK Community leaders and anyone seeking funding to accelerate your work to expand life outcomes for boys and young men of color.
We curate funding opportunities from a diverse array of funders from across sectors, as well as tools, grant maker profiles and tips that can help enhance your development strategy. Opportunities are updated monthly so be sure to check back often.
You can also find additional resources on grant writing and organizational training on optimizing your fundraising capacity to position yourself to secure funding for your work.

Tap into pro bono resources to help you prepare for a successful grant application such as taprootplus.org (Opens in a new tab), which was created by the Taproot Foundation and gives any nonprofit access to a professional pro bono consultant to work on a project that is shorter in length. They will work with you on a specific project in marketing, IT, human resources, among others. It is an accessible starting point in allowing nonprofits to get experience in leveraging a professional consultant to work on some key action areas.

Social Justice Fund Northwest Opens Seed and Rapid Response Grants (Opens in a new tab)
Brief Description: The Social Justice Fund Northwest (Opens in a new tab) is a foundation working at the frontlines of social change. The organization works to leverage the resources of members to foster significant, long-term social justice solutions across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. The fund has opened its 2021 Seed Grants and Rapid Response grants programs, which will award one-time grants of $4,000 as general operating support to new and emerging groups that are developing their community organizing work but might not yet meet all the qualifications for SJF’s Giving Project grants. Applicants should be an organized group that has been in existence for no more than three years (individuals are not funded). Groups that are not 501(c)3 or (c)(4) organizations and are not fiscally sponsored may apply but must first speak with an SJF staff person.

Brief Description: The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (Opens in a new tab)is inviting applications for its Advancing Social Equity Initiative, which aims to build the capacity of emerging nonprofits in southern New Mexico to align more with evidence-informed equity models. The initiative’s objective is to seed a pilot demonstration model to ground equity in the fabric of local nonprofits, increase well-being among staff and constituents with exponential impact in the Las Cruces area, and inspire other area human service organizations to build collaborative power and establish equitable well-being efforts in the region. To that end, the foundation invites applications to support organizational capacity building that results in impactful work and engagements that advance racial and social justice in southern New Mexico.

Rising Tide Foundation Invites LOIs for Freedom in Practice Grants Program (Opens in a new tab)
Brief Description: The Rising Tide Foundation (Opens in a new tab), which aims to promote freedom to improve the quality of life everywhere, was created with the belief that those who are most vulnerable to critical issues and who are willing and ready to take on responsibility are the most effective agents of change and should contribute as members of society with a spirit of freedom to solve their own problems.

Borealis Philanthropy Communities Transforming Policing Fund Welcomes LOIs (Opens in a new tab)
Brief Description: CTPF is a donor collaborative that provides resources to organizations in local communities impacted by deadly and discriminatory policing practices working to build power, increase police accountability and transparency, and redefine safety by advocating for investment in community-based programs and services as alternatives to police, jails, and prisons.

Brief Description: The Wawa Foundation and Wawa Community Care are committed to building and maintaining strong relationships with local communities and national partners. To achieve this, we provide focused financial and in-kind support for non-profit and community organizations, as well as event sponsorship and volunteerism.
Deadline: Rolling – Submissions for grants over $2,500 are due in the months of January, April, July, October.

Brief Description: The Potlatch Fund (Opens in a new tab) aims to build on the Native tradition of giving by increasing philanthropy for and among Tribal communities through grants and empowering community leaders with the tools they need to succeed through training. To that end, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Native communities, the Potlatch Resiliency Fund will support resiliency actions that create hope, social connection, adaption, flexibility, and purpose.

Meyer Foundation Invites Applications for Just and Equitable COVID-19 Recovery (Opens in a new tab)
Brief Description: The Meyer Foundation (Opens in a new tab) (“Foundation”) partners with organizations and projects that build the power of communities to reimagine, recreate, and reform systems in the pursuit of racial and economic justice. According to the foundation, COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted Black, indigenous, immigrant, Latinx, and other communities of color; therefore, the Foundation is working to build a more racially just society where everyone in its region can thrive. For this reason, the Foundation is exclusively focusing its core grantmaking in 2021 in support of efforts to build a just and equitable COVID-19 recovery and is inviting applications for programs working toward that end. In addition, the Foundation will support work that builds power, changes systems, and collaborates across constituencies and issues.
