Monique Carswell is the director of opportunity and strategic initiatives at the Walmart Foundation. Previously, she was the director of the Walmart Foundation Center for Racial Equity, where she led initiatives to advance financial inclusion for underserved entrepreneurs and businesses. Monique's work focused on eliminating long-standing systemic barriers that prevent underrepresented communities from accessing capital, resources, and mentorship. She has helped to allocate nearly $20 million in grants to organizations driving equitable access to capital and resources for underrepresented entrepreneurs. Monique’s leadership has shaped how the Walmart Foundation approaches its social impact and philanthropic work, which includes advocating for systemic change and fostering collaboration across sectors to address root causes rather than symptoms.
