Louis Spanias is an associate director of sustainability for Cumming Group, an international consulting firm where he supports public agencies and local governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build community-wide climate resilience. His work focuses on equitably engaging frontline communities, particularly those most susceptible to climate impacts, while driving infrastructure growth such as transportation, land use, buildings, and sustainable resource management. He drives community-centered climate progress across the country, including managing sustainability programs for metropolitan Los Angeles that are projected to cut emissions in half over five years. He has also engaged more than 1,000 residents in community workshops on climate action in cities like Tucson, Arizona; Oakley, California; and Tumwater, Washington, helping them achieve net-zero emissions goals and bolstering resilience.
