Imani Daniel is the executive director of VIISION Inc., an organization that builds community-driven systems and volunteer networks to advance economic resilience and disaster preparedness in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Imani built the EmGar app in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which helped coordinate over 8,500 volunteer hours and disaster relief aid distribution and created paid service opportunities to build disaster resilience and foster a circular economy led by and for Virgin Islanders. She built intergenerational partnerships across national climate, health, and philanthropic sectors to mobilize more than $5 million in recovery funding for her territory. Imani is a delegate to the 6th Constitutional Convention of the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she is helping draft the territory’s first constitution centered on self-determination, sovereignty, and equitable representation.
