Women & Health Initiative Director, Taller Salud

Caguas, Puerto Rico

Angela Cruz-Félix is the women and health initiative director at Taller Salud, an organization that works to elevate women's leadership in order to co-create well-being, integral health, and opportunities for individual and collective development. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Angela collaborated with the Puerto Rico Judicial System to develop a virtual platform to request protection orders, improving accessibility to the legal system, especially for women. Angela trains a broad coalition of faith leaders, community groups, beauty salon owners, and governmental organizations to effectively support survivors of gender-based violence and serve as informed allies. Through the use of storytelling and amplifying survivors’ voices, Angela is working to empower her community and build stronger connections between gender equality and health equity.
