Nazune Menka is the Denaakk’e (Koyukon Athabaskan) and Lumbee assistant professor of law at Seattle University School of Law, where her scholarship focuses on the self-determination of Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples. She was previously the executive director at the Center for Indigenous Law and Justice at UC Berkeley School of Law, where she oversaw educational programming, research development, and community-building initiatives to support Indigenous people. Nazume served as a supervising attorney at the Environmental Law Clinic, providing legal assistance and advocacy on projects that affirm the sovereignty of Native Nations and advance environmental justice. Her pro-bono legal efforts include helping tribes gain jurisdiction over water quality regulation on their reservations and adjacent areas.
