Idris Abdul-Zahir is the resident imam and Board Chair of Masjidullah: The Center for Human Excellence, one of the largest Muslim congregations in Philadelphia. He was appointed by Governor Josh Shapiro to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Commission for African American Affairs and works to enhance the civic, educational, and economic status of the African American community in Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of CeaseFire PA, an organization dedicated to ending gun violence through education and advocacy. As a member of Multi-Faith Neighbors Network, Idris facilitates interfaith dialogue and addresses challenges prevalent in faith-based communities. Also an emerging filmmaker, Idris directed and produced “Ask A Muslim,” challenging harmful Muslim stereotypes and demonstrating his commitment to dialogue and understanding across faith.
