Vitorino Mello Oliveira is the First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations. His work focuses on advancing global governance, peacebuilding, and sustainability through inclusive multilateral cooperation. He has been involved in UN reforms, especially around the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has specifically contributed to policy frameworks, including the Pact for the Future, the establishment of the UN Youth Office, and the financial frameworks for peacekeeping operations. Vitorino also teaches courses at the undergraduate and master’s levels and mentors students on research contributing to sustainable strategies, especially through the development of educational modules focused on the SDGs to equip future leaders with the knowledge and skills to address global challenges.
