Marek Józefiak
2025-2026 Obama Foundation Europe Leader

Spokesperson and Environmental Policy Expert, Greenpeace Poland Foundation
Poland
Marek Józefiak is a spokesperson and environmental policy expert at the Greenpeace Poland Foundation. With over a decade of experience building movements, Marek has tackled the impact of air pollution on public health, promoted the energy transition, and advocated for forest protection. His work resulted in extensive international media coverage, including reports highlighting issues such as the logging of Europe’s last old-growth forests, including the Białowieża and Carpathian Forests. Marek helped bring the issue of forest protection to the forefront in Poland, resulting in the current government’s policy to protect 20% of the country’s forests from logging. His long-term goals include working towards Poland’s transition from coal by 2035. On a European scale, he hopes to contribute to the realization of the “Impossible Park,” Greenpeace’s vision for Europe’s largest national park in the Carpathian Mountains.
