Cara Hunter is a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly. When Cara joined the Assembly in 2020, she was the youngest in her party’s history to assume the role of member, and she was the youngest woman ever in Northern Ireland to serve as deputy mayor. Cara helped lead the Period Poverty Bill into law, secured over $1.3 million in funding for rape crisis services, and successfully advocated for a Northern Ireland Child Poverty Strategy. She is leading the End Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy movement in Northern Ireland and is currently spearheading a UK-wide campaign with Glamour UK magazine to combat AI digital-based violence against women and girls. Cara facilitates high-level discussions on peace-building, engaging young people in conversations about fostering reconciliation in Northern Ireland’s post-conflict society.
