Manager of Sustainability and ʻĀina-based Learning, Kamehameha Schools

Hawaiʻi

Kepa Barrett is the manager of sustainability and ʻāina-based learning for Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, a K-12 educational institution aimed at educating students of Native Hawaiian descent. In this role, Kepa helps students learn more about their Hawaiian culture through land-and sea-based learning opportunities, imparting wisdom to students on careers related to natural resources and environmental stewardship. Kepa brings his experience from his former role as a program coordinator and external affairs officer at Kupu, a nonprofit that helps youth explore career opportunities, sustainability, and environmental conservation. Kamehameha Schools enroll a population of over 7,000 students throughout its system, and as a graduate himself of Kamehameha Schools and a leader early in his career and new in this role, Kepa is eager to give back to a community that has shaped his life trajectory.
