Kassie Hartendorp
2025-2026 Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leader

Director, ActionStation Aotearoa
Aotearoa New Zealand
Kassie Hartendorp is the director of ActionStation Aotearoa, a people-powered social justice organization that drives national movements and equips grassroots communities to lead their own local movements. Kassie’s team has grown the organization to 600,000 members and played a key role in campaigns advancing Indigenous rights and economic justice. In 2024, ActionStation drove a campaign to stop the Treaty Principles Bill, which planned to remove Indigenous rights from the nation's Treaty of Waitangi. Their efforts resulted in a record-breaking amount of public support and the bill failing to make it into law. For 15 years, Kassie has been a key figure in Aotearoa New Zealand's social justice movements, supporting LGBTQ+ communities, addressing racism, and organizing low-paid workers for equal pay in the union movement. Inspired by social movements locally and abroad, Kassie brings together communities to revitalize Māori culture and knowledge and create a fairer, just world for everyone.
