Jonalyn Villasante is the committee secretary for the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. Jonalyn specializes in maritime law and security, promoting regional stability through research, policy recommendations, and public forums. She is also a senior lecturer at Miriam College, teaching courses in international relations and diplomacy, and executive director of the Women’s Alliance for Security and Peace where she champions women’s participation in addressing peace and security issues. Jonalyn played a key role in the passage of the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act, which strengthened the country’s sovereignty and maritime governance. With over two decades of experience in international relations, spanning public service and academia, she remains committed to advancing maritime security. Jonalyn believes the ocean should be a unifying force for cooperation and shared prosperity among nations.
