Hawaiʻi

Alexander Yee is the adaptation program manager for the City and County of Honolulu's Resilience Office, which is tasked with strengthening Oʻahu’s resilience by promoting affordability, preparing for natural disasters, and harnessing the power of local communities. Alexander developed the city's first climate adaptation strategy, Climate Ready Oʻahu, which provides a framework for individuals, businesses, and government to understand their responsibility in climate mitigation and adaptation. Alexander also created the Climate Champions program, which champions local organizations that utilize sustainable practices as messengers for local adaptation projects. Alexander has spent his career working in urban planning, having previously worked on California’s statewide climate adaptation strategy. Alexander draws inspiration from community-driven leaders who persist in protecting Hawaiʻi, even when the impact may take years to unfold.
