Girls Opportunity Alliance

Mrs. Obama discusses global education at a roundtable with members of the Girls Opportunity Alliance at the Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago, IL on Tuesday October 29, 2019.
About The Girls Opportunity Alliance
In too many places around the world, girls are unable to reach their full potential.
More than 100 million girls around the world are not in school.
That's a lot of empty desks—and a lot of dreams that are being cut short. Obstacles to education impact girls, their families, their communities, and our world.
In the United States, adolescent girls, especially girls of color, face many barriers and disparities.
Racism, discrimination, and unequal opportunities impact girls’ overall health and wellness and prevent them from pursuing their educational and career aspirations.
Working together, we can improve outcomes for girls.
By taking action to help girls and by supporting local, community-based organizations working to empower girls, we can build a world that is more stable, healthy, and prosperous for all of us—and a future worthy of their contributions and their boundless promise.

The Girls Opportunity Alliance envisions a world where girls everywhere have the resources they need to transform their lives.
