Washington, D.C. – Today, The Barack Obama Foundation received final proposals for the future Barack Obama Presidential Center from the University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, Columbia University, and University of Hawaii.

The Foundation issued a  Request for Proposals (RFP) (Opens in a new tab) to these four institutions in September, soliciting proposals with detailed information about site location and development, plans for community engagement, opportunities for academic collaboration, financial and capital commitments and budgeting, among other criteria.

“We appreciate the amount of time, effort, and care that each of these institutions has spent developing a proposal for the future Obama Presidential Center,” said Board Chair Martin Nesbitt. “We look forward to reviewing each proposal carefully and making a recommendation that reflects President Obama’s vision and goals over the course of his life and career.”

The Board of Directors anticipates sharing their final recommendation with the President and First Lady, who will then make the final decision, in the first quarter of 2015.
