About this RFQ

A sketch of the future Obama Presidential Center. There are trees and shrubs below the horizon line of the sketch. In the center stands a tall, angular building. To the right there is a shorter rectangular building with grass atop. There are sketches of people walking around in front of the angular building and atop the rectangular building.

The Obama Foundation has released this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to solicit responses from firms interested in being considered for the role of construction manager for the Obama Presidential Center (OPC). The deadline for RFQ submission is July 7, 2017. A Request for Proposal (RFP) will follow to a select number of firms that respond to the RFQ.

The construction manager will join the existing OPC team and provide pre-construction services such as cost estimating, constructability reviews, value engineering, and logistics planning during the project’s design phase. Firms advancing to the RFP stage will be asked to provide information for consideration to perform all of the construction phase services for the project.

A view of the Obama Presidential Center looking north shows the Museum, Forum, and Library. The Museum, the tallest structure on site, will serve as a beacon for the Obama Center and the South Side and mark a visitor’s arrival. The Library and Forum will be single-story structures with planted terraces.
