About MBK Rising!

MBK Rising! is a convening that will bring together in Oakland the growing network of MBK Communities, elected officials, cross-sector leaders, and young men of color and the organizations working hard to help them achieve their dreams.

Programming will include:

Celebrating the Movement and Strengthening Bonds

Celebrate the progress and impact of MBK Communities and aligned organizations and local governments working for boys and young men of color.

Connect youth and practitioners to one another, to resources, and to information about what works.

Create a forum to connect, learn new skills, share knowledge and ignite new partnerships.

Lifting Up What Works

Four young men are pictured in black and white staring left out of frame.

Increase understanding about effective solutions for reducing youth violence, mentoring, and collective impact that leads to better outcomes for boys and young men of color.

Highlight the winners of the MBK Community Challenge Competition and other best in class initiatives, organizations and coalitions.

Encourage adoption, replication, and scaling of promising and proven approaches.

Showcasing Leaders and Amplifying Young Voices

Two black men with medium-deep are shown hugging one wearing a camoflauge hat and the other has short coily hair.

Provide boys and young men of color with a forum to drive the agenda, demonstrate their power and strength, and share both the challenges they face and solutions they believe can work.

Celebrate, showcase, and learn from local and national leaders at the forefront of transformational organizations that are reducing barriers, expanding opportunity, and creating lasting, systemic change for our boys and young men.
