Taking the stage together in New York City, Mrs. Obama, Melinda French Gates, and Amal Clooney participated in a special event in support of the Girls Opportunity Alliance’s Get Her There campaign and girls’ education around the world.

During the lively gathering, the Alliance was thrilled to announce a collaboration between the trailblazers’ respective organizations to advance gender equality and end child marriage—helping girls overcome barriers they face in their communities in order to reach their full potential.

The three girls’ empowerment and gender equity champions were joined by Wanjiru Wahome, the executive director of the Samburu Girls Foundation in Kenya—a community-led organization in the Girls Opportunity Alliance which works to rescue girls from child marriage and to help them get the education they deserve.

Get a girl to school and she can change our world.

Get a girl to school and she can change our world. Get her the tools and she can lift a community. Get her the opportunity and she can teach a generation.

More than 100 million girls are without access to proper education. And there are millions more who do not have the resources they need.

Our failure to help them progress is holding us all back. Because their unrealized potential is our unrealized potential.

Get her creating and all of us thrive.
Get her learning and all of us benefit.
Let’s get her to the place she wants to be.
Let’s get her to the place she can be.
Let’s Get Her There.

We asked girls from around the world to write a letter to their 25-year-old selves, outlining the dreams, ambitions, and accomplishments they hope to achieve by 25.
