The Barack Obama Foundation | EIN 46-4950751

Together, we can help a new generation of changemakers rise to the challenges of our time—challenges they can help us meet. All we have to do is empower them—to make sure that, as they write the next chapter of our country’s enduring story, they never have to do it alone. With your support, we can build the Obama Presidential Center that will revitalize the South Side of Chicago, unite a new generation of leaders to move us forward, and work together to change history once more.

Estate Gifts

Leave a legacy that inspires.

By including the Obama Foundation in your estate plan, you can help us carry our  mission into the future for generations to come.

A bequest can be funded with cash, securities, or other assets, and you can arrange for the Obama Foundation to receive a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a residual balance. You can make changes to your bequest at any time, and your assets remain in your control during your lifetime. The Foundation receives the gift only when your estate is distributed. Charitable bequests are deductible against the value of your estate and may reduce the amount of federal estate tax owed.

You can arrange your bequest simply, by including the following language in your will or living trust:

Sample Bequest Language:

I [name], of [city, state ZIP], bequeath the sum of $[ ] or [ ] percent of my estate to The Barack Obama Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a business address of 5235 S. Donor-Advised Funds

Recommend grants from your donor-advised fund (DAF).

Contact your DAF sponsoring organization to learn how to recommend a grant to the Obama Foundation:

Legal Name: The Barack Obama Foundation

Federal Tax ID Number: 46-4950751

Address: 5235 S. Harper Court, Suite 1140, Chicago, IL 60615

Please ask your sponsoring organization to include your name and address in any grant report or transmittal letter. The Obama Foundation may not be able to accept DAF grants made without identification of the donor advisor.

To ensure compliance with tax rules, the Obama Foundation is not able to accept grants made from a donor-advised fund as payments towards an existing pledge. In addition, donor advisors may not receive “a more than incidental benefit” as a result of the distribution of funds from a DAF to the Obama Foundation. We encourage you to speak with your DAF sponsoring organization or tax advisor regarding the potential tax consequences of your receipt of benefits in connection with a distribution from your donor-advised fund.

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts can double, and sometimes triple, the impact of your gift. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies may also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. If your employer offers matching gifts, request a matching gift form which is often available through your company's human resources department. You can also use our search tool below to see if your employer has a matching gift program.
